Union Hosts Health Care Rally

Retiree Harrold Zoch met Texas AFL-CIO President Moeller

United Auto Workers Local 276 hosted a Rally for Health Care at their hall, 2505 W.E. Roberts in Grand Prairie, on the afternoon of April 8. Most of the audience members were retirees who are critically interested in the issue. Speakers were: Becky Moeller, President of the Texas AFL-CIO, Tom Love for U.S. House District 24, State Representative Kirk England, State Representative Roberto Alonzo -- speaking for Senate Candidate Rick Noriega, and National Nurses Organizing Committee activist Rossia Avery.

Gene Lantz, Secretary of the Texas Alliance for Retired Americans, emceed the short rally. He said that the American labor movement was highlighting the desperate need for health care reform all through the month of April. One television station and one major daily newspaper sent reporters.
