North Texas UAW Area Retirees Meet

The North Texas UAW Area Retirees met in Local 276's hall at 10 AM on October 25th, the 4th Tuesday of the month. Most of the area UAW locals were represented. Bob Aday and Fred Milholland talked about how to get the others involved.

Minutes were read and approved, including last month's proposal for a web page. Fred Milholland gave the financial report.

Chairperson Mary Holomek opened the general discussion with comments about political leaders who have been or may soon be indicted. The new proposal for General Motors active and retired workers was discussed. Retirees expect to get full information at their next regular meeting on the following Tuesday.

Locals 218 and 317 had expected to get $10 flu shots from Bell at their next meetings, but flu shots were postponed by Bell. 218 meets tomorrow at 11 AM. Three days a week, around 35 retirees come to the hall to play dominoes. Local 218 expects 350 people for Thanksgiving and 400 for Xmas.

Each of the locals reported on recent developments.

Early voting began the previous day. Bob Felzke said that the Texas AFL-CIO says vote "no" on prop#2, but has no position on the others. He suggested a moment of silence for Rosa Parks, whose death was announced this morning.

The group cancelled the December neeting as it falls right after Christmas. The next meeting is November 22, the fourth Tuesday.
