Subject: On 3/29 IRS to Help Retirees Apply for $300 Stimulus Payment
Dear Colleagues:
On Saturday, March 29, the IRS will set up hundreds of locations where retirees and others WHO DO NOT FILE INCOME TAX RETURNS can apply to receive their $300 economic stimulus payment.
The one-day event, called "Super Saturday," will take place in 320 locations in all fifty states and the District of Columbia. At each location, IRS employees will help individuals prepare a 1040A Form solely to receive their stimulus payment.
To find the IRS offices and partner sites providing assistance on March 29, click here: http://www.irs.gov/newsroom/article/0,,id=180592,00.html or call the IRS Hotline at 1-800-906-9887.
Millions of Americans who do not pay federal income taxes may be eligible for a $300 economic stimulus payment ($600 for married couples) if they have at least $3,000 in qualifying income. Qualifying income includes any combination of wages, nontaxable combat pay and certain benefits from Social Security, Veterans Affairs and Railroad Retirement.
Some households will be eligible for an additional $300 payment for each qualifying child younger than 17.
This week, the IRS will be mailing 20.5 million Social Security and Veterans Affairs recipients a Package 1040A-3 that contains all the information they need to file a return.
In Unity,
Helen Gibson
