Register and Vote!

Texas primaries are scheduled for March 4, 2008. To vote, you must be properly registered 30 days earlier. Texas counties are allowed to cancel registrations for everyone who has not voted for two years. People who moved, or whose name has changed, have to fill out a new registration card to be sure they can vote.

If you aren't sure you're properly registered to vote because you moved, or if you haven't voted in some time, just get a registration card and send it in. Postage-free registration cards are available through county government. Computer users can get one from http://www.sos.state.tx.us/elections/voter/reqvr.shtml

Vote by Mail!

Texans who are over 65 years old, or anybody who might have trouble getting to the polls, may vote by mail. The process is completely free and very easy.

Print out the application form available by computer from http://www.sos.state.tx.us/elections/forms/a5-14.pdf, or call your County Courthouse for a blank.

The form is easy to fill out. Lots of the info is optional. Mail your form to the Early Voting Clerk for your county. All of the County addresses are listed at http://www.sos.state.tx.us/elections/voter/votregduties.shtml

The County authority will send you a ballot in plenty of time before the election. It's postage-free!

Reasons for voting by mail:

1. It's easier, and it's free.
2. You have plenty of time to look over the ballot and make decisions
3. You don't have to worry about having a ride, or any kind of problem, on election day
4. Our retiree voting clout would increase a great deal
